Game Format

Basics

Teams consist of four players with documented USGA handicaps.

Two golf balls are played in alternative shot hitting rotations. Shot rotations for each ball are determine prior to the start of play. The two shot rotations can be the same or different, and can not be changed during the course of play. Teams are required to post a score for at least one ball on all 18-holes. Teams are allowed to pick-up a ball at any point. There is a time limit on Team4Golf events (per course guidelines), so taking a ball out of play is prudent when the likelihood of meeting the documented scoring requirement is low (see 1st Twist). Balls are automatically removed from play when the score for that particular ball has exceeded the documented scoring requirement.

Here's the 1st Twist - Success in a Team4Golf event is based upon meeting specified scoring requirements on all 9 or 18 holes. Scoring requirements are documented on this site (click here), and Teams are accompanied throughout the entire event by a Team4Golf-GameHost. The Game Host will keep Teams abreast of shot rotations and hole scoring requirements. There are two levels of scoring requirements based upon a Team's combined handicap. The minimum combined Team handicap required to participate in a Team4Golf event is 20 or greater.

This is the truly unique aspect of the game format. Totally transparent results are required in order to achieve success. Every shot is meaningful, and it takes a total Team effort to achieve success.

So you just realized your chance at success can be eliminated after only one hole. Don't drive your cart off the course just yet (see Twist #2).

Here's Twist #2 - Teams have the opportunity to change an unsuccessful hole into a successful hole via our Second Chance Challenges. If a Team fails to meet (or better) the scoring requirement on a hole, the Team4Golf-GameHost will place one ball within a specified drop spot.  The Game Host will then ask the Team Captain for a shot rotation based upon each Challenges unique scoring requirements.  If, for example, the required Challenge score is three, the Team Captain will provide the hitting order for three players. If the Team posts a score of 3 shots or less, the hole status is changed from unsuccessful to successful. If the score is higher than three, the Team's chance at winning the Grand Prize are lost. Drop spots are all within 40 yards of the green and can include spots on the green, in the rough surrounding the green, or in a bunker. Second Chance Challenge drop spots and scoring requirements are also documented on this site (click here).

Teams participating in an 18-hole event will be allowed a maximum of three Second Chance Challenges on the first 9-holes, and three Challenges on the second nine holes. Unused Challenges can not be carried over. Teams participating in a 9-hole event will be allowed to use three Second Chance Challenges.

See video of Team4Golf event below. This particular event was a 9-hole challenge. The Team4Golf scoring requirement for the first hole was 6 or less. It plays as a par 5 and the Team failed to meet the 6 shot scoring requirement. They did however meet the scoring requirements for the 3-shot Second Chance Challenge. So it was onto the second hole.
